Steven started his career in the marching arts in 2002 with the Hilliard Darby High School Marching Band where he played mellophone. He was selected member of the year in 2003, 2004, and 2005. During this time he also participated in the Hilliard Darby Winterguard where he had the honor of serving as Color Guard Captain in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Steven spent 4 years as a marching member with Capital Regiment (2006) where he was recognized as most improved member and Colts (2007-2009). Steven marched with Juxtaposition Winterguard from 2007-2012 where he earned a bronze medal at WGI world championships in 2009.
Steven has been active as a technician, choreographer, director, designer, and consultant for many high school programs throughout the Central Ohio area including Hilliard Darby High School, Dublin Jerome High School, Teays Valley High School, Hilliard Bradley High School, Brookeville High School, Grove City High School, Northmont High School, London High School, Hilliard Davidson High School, Central Crossing High School, and New London High School. After aging out of DCI competition, Steven went on to teach The Colt Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps (2012) and Colts Drum and Bugle Corps (2012-2017).
Steven has served on the technical staff at Juxtaposition Winterguard since 2015. In 2016 Juxtaposition was awarded WGI World Champion in the Independent Open Class and in 2017 Juxtaposition went on to perform in WGI Independent World Class Finals. In 2016 Steven served as a visual choreographer, designer, and technician for ConneXus Percussion (WGI Percussion Independent Open Class Finalist). Steven currently resides in Columbus, Ohio with his two dogs Midgie and Ginger. He has just finished his fourth and final season as Colorguard Director and Visual Designer for The Hilliard Davidson Wildcat Marching Band. Steven is extremely excited and honored to be moving into his second season with the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps Colorguard.

Omero Reyes Jr graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a teacher certification. It was at the Brownsville campus where he studied applied percussion under the direction of Dr. Tom Neville, Dr. Mark Eichenberger, and Dr. Joe Moore III. At the Brownsville campus Omero performed with the Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Percussion Ensembles, Jazz Bands, Brass Ensembles, Mariachi, and Master Chorale. Omero is currently teaching Band, Choir, and general music at Pearsall High School.
Omero has been with the Genesis team since 2013. His Drum Corps experience started here in Texas with Revolution DBC. He then later went on to march the Glassmen. He also competed in WGI with Teatro indoor percussion theatre and taught at Capriccio winterguard. He has choreographed and taught at various school around South Texas.
Colorguard Caption Head
Born into a drum corps and color guard family, Mathew began his career in the pageantry arts activity at the early age of 13, enjoying 9 summers of performance in the drum corps activity as a mellophone in the Spirit of Atlanta (2000), in the color guard at the Madison Scouts (2005), and as a mellophone at the Phantom Regiment (2001-2004, 2006-2008), where he won the Drum Corps International World Championship in 2008. At the same time, Mat was also active in the winter guard activity as a performing member of Juxtaposition Winterguard (2001-2011), where he was a key leader in the organization and played an integral role in building the guard into a WGI Independent World Class Finalist.
As an educator, Mathew has been active teaching in visual (marching) and color guard for close to 15 years. From 2009-2016, he played several key roles at the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps as a color guard instructor, visual instructor, and visual caption head. In addition to drum corps, Mat worked for 2 years at the five-time Kentucky State Marching Band Champion Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Lexington KY) as their marching instructor, and for 5 years at the 8 time BOA Grand National finalist Kennesaw Mountain High School where he taught movement and directed the visual marching program. While at Kennesaw Mountain, the band won the 2012 and 2014 Class AAA National Championships. He also worked an instructor and designer for the Kennesaw Mountain winter color guard programs. In his time working with the Winter guards, they were consistent medalists in the Southern Association for Performing Arts, consistent WGI Regional Finalists and were the bronze medal in Scholastic Open class at the WGI Championships in 2013.
Since Relocating to Texas in 2016, Mathew has worked as the Director and Designer for the Klein Collins High School Colorguard and Winter Guard programs and is currently the Director of Colorguard at Magnolia West High School in Magnolia, Texas. He is also a key staff member in the development and growth of SPIRIT Independent winterguard from The University of Houston, in Houston Texas.
Mathew attended The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio where he studied photography. He currently resides in Spring, Texas where he is a freelance visual designer, choreographer, coordinator and instructor for marching bands and winter color guards across the United States. Outside of the pageantry art, Mathew enjoys spending his free time with his wife Amy, and their daughter Kennedy, as well as their 2 dogs and cat.
Teylor Patak is currently a senior Music Education and Performance major at the University of North Texas. There, she studies Saxophone with Dr. Eric Nestler and performs regularly with the UNT Symphonic band, under the direction of Professor Dennis Fisher.
Teylor teaches private lessons at Tidwell Middle School in Roanoke, Texas. She recently joined the drum corps world marching colorguard with Genesis DBC for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. She is now entering her first year in the nationally recognized group CGT Dallas. Teylor hopes to instill a passion for performance in her students, and is very excited to return to Genesis as a colorguard technician.
Alex is from Greenwood, Indiana where he began his colorguard career as a member of the Whiteland Community High School Colorguard and participated in all seasons throughout his high school career. As a student at Whiteland, Alex also was a member of the dance program, which helped to start a foundation for him to grow in his colorguard career. Beyond high school, Alex has performed as a member of the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps Colorguard (2013-2015), Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps Colorguard (2016-2018) and Onyx Winterguard (2016-2018).
As a teacher, Alex has spent time working with students across Ohio and Indiana for several years, most notably with Danville High School and Carroll High School. Alex Currently resides in Dayton Ohio and is very excited to have the opportunity to teach and grow with Genesis!
Alyson Downs is a graduate of Casper College with an Associates's degree in Dance and the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor's degree in Dance.
She currently works for the Arts Council of Oklahoma City as a dance instructor. Alyson also works for Yukon High School in Yukon, Oklahoma as a color guard instructor and choreographer during both the fall and winter seasons.
Alyson was a member of the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps color guard for eight seasons, aging out in 2015. She served as a captain from 2013-2015 and received the Troopers Member of the Year award in 2013. Alyson also performed with Eclectix Independent Winter Guard in 2015.
Alyson taught the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps Color Guard from 2016-2018 and is excited to be on board with Genesis for the 2019 season!
Iliana is currently a senior at Texas State University and will graduate August 2019 with her Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology. Formerly an instructor for the Hays High School color guard program, Iliana is now working her first year at Canyon High school in New Braunfels, TX.
AN original cast member, 2018 will be Iliana's third year with Invictus World from Austin, TX. She recently aged out with Genesis DBC where she marched for five years and served as Captain in 2017 and 2018. She is ecstatic about the opportunity to share her passion with performers and excited to grow as an educator with Genesis!
Emily is from O'Fallon, Missouri where she is finishing up her final year of college. She started color guard in high school being captain her junior and senior years. Once she graduated high school, she helped educate multiple color guards in her area. Emily's drum corps career started with The Colts Drum and Bugle Corps in the summers of 2015 and 2016 where she was an honorable mention for outstanding rookie and outstanding marching member in the color guard. Then she went on and marched The Cadets in 2017 and aged out in 2018. Emily was given a distinguished service award for her devotion and dedication as a member of The 2018 Cadets.
Emily is currently a part of her fifth season with Avidity Independent Winterguard. This is her second year as captain of the organization and they received 11th place in open class at WGI World Championships last year.
As a person who has a passion for education and performing, Emily cannot wait for her love of the drum corps activity to grow as an incoming instructor for Genesis!
