Genesis is pleased to announce that the entire 2017 Visual Team will be returning for 2018. Heading up the team, in her 5th year with the corps, is Visual Director Muriel Hague and serving his 9th year with Genesis is Caption Head Frank Solis. "The consistency we are able to create in keeping this team together is going to pay off huge dividends and allow our students to have an incredible experience." - Program Coordinator Chad Huel.

Continuing on our theme of continuity, Director of Percussion Brannon Baker and Batterie Caption Head Eric Thompson are both returning for their 3rd year together to lead the Genesis Percussion Program. Joining them this year will be newly promoted Front Ensemble Coordinator Jason Dye. They welcome several new faces to their team as well as a few from our past. "I feel that our Percussion program has a unique sound quality and is dedicated to the musical approach. It all starts with the guys that are in front of them and this team has their arrows all pointed in the same direction. Brannon and Eric are a powerful team and now with Jason on board I feel that Genesis Percussion is going to shake some trees this season." E.D. Chris Magonigal
Key Genesis Alumni will be joining the team this year as former Percussion Captains Kevin Torres and Morgan Gutierrez return to the program to teach, and our original Caption Head Dillon Ingle returns as a consultant. "It's important for us to bring a sense of history and identity in to the Percussion Program." says Magonigal. "Our success has been built from those who laid the foundation and continuing to allow our alumni to thrive after their marching years is going to solidify that success."

For the 2018 Color Guard Caption, Program Coordinator Chad Huel welcomes veteran World Class Educator Carla Burgess-Tomsa to the Fenix Family as Color Guard Director! Carla’s pageantry career spans four decades, where she has been instrumental in developing championship winter guard, drum corps and high school marching band programs. Her work in the winter guard activity includes directing, designing and instructing finalist and medal winning programs at the Pride of Cincinnati, Onyx, Juxtaposition, R2 Performance Group, the Rangerettes, Westerville High School, and North Royalton High School.
In the drum corps activity, Carla served as an instructor for the Pride of Cincinnati drum corps, and then caption head, designer, and instructor for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps. She went on to become the color guard caption head for the Spirit of Atlanta, and recently has been the color guard caption head, designer, and staff coordinator for the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps.
"Our previous Guard leadership was a good one and over the course of several meetings about the 2017 season, our whole team discussed some of the areas we needed more experience in after the move to World Class. Joining Carla on our journey will be Co Caption Heads Elana Siegel and Mathew Tomsa. Elana Siegel is an accomplished educator having recently served as the Assistant Guard Caption Head for the Colts DBC and has spent the last 4 years with that organization. As a Performer Elana marched with the Colts from 09-12 and was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Winterguard winning 2 World Championship Silver medals with that team.
As an educator, Mathew Tomsa has been active teaching in visual (marching) and color guard. From 2009-2016, he played several key roles at the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps as a color guard instructor, visual (marching) instructor, and visual caption head. In addition to drum corps, Mat worked for 2 years at the five-time Kentucky State Marching Band Champion Paul Laurence Dunbar High School (Lexington KY) as their marching instructor, and for 5 years at the 8 time BOA Grand National finalist Kennesaw Mountain High School where he taught movement and directed the visual marching program. Most recently he served as the director and designer for the Klein Collins High School winter and fall color guard programs.

Coming off our most successful Brass season to date, Genesis is pleased to announce that its entire brass leadership will be returning for another season! Heading up the team in his second season as Director of Brass is Jason Buckingham. Jason and his team helped transform the Genesis program in to a World Class unit and will be looking to improve upon the success of 2017 as we continue to grow. Joining Jason will be Co-Caption Head Aaron Sanderson, who will also be entering his second season with Genesis, and 8 year brass staff veteran and Co-Caption Head Art Cano. "It was important for us to continue the improvements and excitement that the brass created within our program. Jason and his team did an incredible job and the future of this brass program is unlimited with this team in tact." - E.D. Chris Magonigal
